HYPERBOREA 3E Progress Report
over 1 year ago – Sat, Aug 27, 2022 at 08:51:27 PM

Greetings fellow gamers,

As of this time, except for a handful of stragglers(*), we have shipped all Kickstarter orders for this project that do not include the signed & numbered leatherette sets.

I realize it's been a long wait for my friends, longtime customers, and new arrivals who came in pledging for the leatherette books, and for that I do apologize, but the long wait is soon to draw to a close. I spoke to my CSR at the printer, and she assured me that her purchasing team assured her that the leatherette materials will be in their hands between September 8 - 13. After that they will wrap the books, foil stamp them, and ship to me. This means we should have books here some time in late September, with shipping from North Wind Adventures most likely to run throughout October.

I thank you for your patience! You've been wonderfully supportive throughout this unfortunate supply chain issue. I do appreciate that, and I look forward to seeing and gaming with a lot of you at the conventions I'll be attending in the near future, such as GameHole Con, Total Con, Gary Con, and North Texas RPG Con

Best,

Jeffrey Talanian

HYPERBOREA 3E Update on S&N Leatherette Books
over 1 year ago – Fri, Aug 05, 2022 at 09:04:12 PM

Greetings fellow RPG enthusiasts,

We have been making tremendous progress shipping the standard edition HYPERBOREA 3E books, with hundreds of supporters from around the globe now receiving their books or eagerly awaiting for them to soon arrive. Today, I've been working on retailer orders for our wonderful brick-and-mortar support partners.

I do have some concrete information regarding the signed & numbered leatherette edition books. We've been informed that we are five weeks away from the printer receiving the leatherette materials from their supplier. They will then wrap the books (which are already printed and bound) and then ship to us. This means that we should have the books by approximately the third week of September

In previous messages here and elsewhere, we've talked about the possibility of doing split-shipments if the delay continued to vex us, because there are a decent amount of folks who ordered both a standard set and a leatherette set. With our current timeline this is now unnecessary. Here is why:

1.) We are looking at approximately three more weeks of standard book shipping left for orders that do not include the leatherette books. That leaves such a small gap between finishing standard orders and starting leatherette orders that it's really not worth the trouble.

2.) We'd have to bill for the extra shipping and acquire more parcels than we'd planned for. Furthermore, international split-shipments would be even more challenging (double the customs forms, etc.).

3.) If we did offer split-shipping (even if it was USA only) and a lot of folks opted for it, there is a very good chance that we wouldn't finish the split-shipping before the leatherettes arrive, leading to further logistics difficulties.

So, the plan is to stay the course, my friends. I know it can be frustrating to wait a bit longer, but that is the hand we've been dealt, so please be patient as we await the arrival of the leatherettes, which I am certain will look glorious. Thank you for your understanding and your patronage.

Kind regards,

HYPERBOREA Update, July 2022
almost 2 years ago – Fri, Jul 08, 2022 at 05:34:49 AM

Greetings folks,

This is a quick update to let you know that we have begun shipping orders for anything that does not include the leatherette edition books, because those have yet to ship to us. But we are chipping away at all other orders. This will be a process that will go on throughout July and well into August, so please be patient as we chip away at these orders. As I write this, we've already sent out 200 parcels and have queued up the next 50 for shipment tomorrow. Thanks for supporting the HYPERBOREA RPG!

HYPE 3E News!
almost 2 years ago – Thu, Jun 16, 2022 at 05:14:07 PM

Greetings Hyperborea 3E Backers,

We've had some great progress since our last update. We have received a couple advance copies of HYPERBOREA 3E (Standard Edition), and we have received the entire shipment of The Late Trapper's Lament and the Atlas of Hyperborea. Several pictures are attached below to show off how they look.

Now, what's next? We are shrink-wrapping the two saddle-stitch books (Late Trapper and Atlas) while awaiting a ship date for the standard edition hardbacks. As of this KS update, I have not received a date on that. It should be soon. The sticking point continues to be the leatherette edition books. As I mentioned two or three weeks ago in the last update, the guts of these books have been printed and bound, but the leatherette material itself continues to be an issue. Communication has been excellent, and I am being assured that they will obtain the materials from one of their many suppliers, just not as soon as they had intended.

So, what does not having the leatherette books at this time mean? Well, the printer is sending the standard edition hardbacks to us soon, so when those books arrive, it will take us a week or two to organize and collate materials for shipment, and then we will begin to send out orders. Any order that contains a set of leatherette books will have to remain on hold for now, but I remain hopeful that we will be able to begin to fulfill those orders within the revised shipping window that I announced in the last update: Starting in July and going into August. If anything changes, I will let you know as soon as I know. Without further ado, here are some photos:

I hope this message sees you all well.

Cheers,

Finalizing Address Information, Print and Shipping Update
almost 2 years ago – Sat, May 28, 2022 at 02:46:11 AM

Greetings Hyperborea 3E Supporters!

I hope that this update sees you well.

Finalizing Address Info: As many of you know, yesterday we had Backerkit send out final notices for address information. If you have a change of address, now is the time to do so. All backers were sent an email, so if you need to update and did not receive the message, please check your junk folder or simply log in to update your address information accordingly.

Shipping Update: As of today, 5/27/22, the books are slightly late on the printer's schedule. Indeed, they were supposed to be en route to us from the printing plant in Michigan last week, but that has not happened yet.  I have been in constant communication with my print partners, and they have provided me the following data:

  • The guts for all the hardbacks have been printed.
  • The cover art for the standard edition books has been printed.
  • The satin ribbons for all the hardback books are being inserted right now.
  • The standard books will sent to us in approximately 1-2 weeks.
  • The leatherette books will follow. As of this time they do not have the leatherette wrapping for the special edition books in their plant. Because of this, the printer's purchasing department is exploring options to get the leatherette materials from an alternate (faster) supplier. Due to this unexpected issue, I am estimating that the leatherettes could be 3-4 weeks behind the standard covers. I will know more soon and will apprise all of you accordingly.
  • The Atlas of HYPERBOREA and The Late Trapper's Lament are being handled by a completely different printer. Those books were supposed to ship to us from a plant in Missouri on June 1. Yesterday I checked in with them to make sure that the books will be on their way on or about June 1. They informed me that those two books are actually 3-4 weeks off schedule due to staffing issues at the plant.

What does all this mean? Well, when supply chain issues reared its ugly head for this project several months ago, it took time for us to get in the queue with our printers. Eventually, everything was scheduled and in place for us to ship beginning in mid-June and throughout the entirety of July. Now, due to further tardiness from both printers, I anticipate that we will begin shipping in early July and up to mid-August.

When I learn more, I will continue to operate with transparency, updating all of you accordingly. Thank you for your continued patience.

Kind regards,

Jeffrey Talanian
