PDFs about to be released!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Dec 15, 2021 at 11:18:17 PM

Greetings kindly backers of HYPERBOREA 3E,

The PDFs for HYPERBOREA 3E Player's Manual, Referee's Manual, and Atlas are finished. Doing some last-minute adjustments to The Late Trapper's Lament (PDF version needs bookmarking; also correcting a short list of typos). After that all files will be uploaded to DriveThru RPG and we'll sending everyone download links for the items that they ordered. Could be by this weekend. If not, Monday or Tuesday.

One of the players in my weekly game was kind enough to print me a Player's Manual, and it looks great!

Cheers and Happy Holidays!

HYPERBOREA 3E T-shirts are in!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Nov 19, 2021 at 05:24:18 PM

Greetings,

We recently received the new T-shirts! I tried mine on, and it looked and felt great. Super soft and comfortable (60% cotton, 40% polyester). So, with the print delays, these shirts all will be folded, bagged, and stored in a cool, dry environment until the other items from this campaign begin to roll in. But it's nice to see the first physical component in-hand (or on-back, as the case may be; that was a joke, don't all laugh at once)!

Excelsior!

Global Supply Chain Disruptions
over 2 years ago – Mon, Oct 18, 2021 at 12:21:32 AM

Greetings HYPERBOREA 3E backers,

As you have no doubt heard by now on the news, the internet, and even directly from Kickstarter, global supply chain disruptions are impacting the manufacture and distribution of countless industries. When Kickstarter issued its own notification regarding the issue, I grew concerned, so I began to research if and how it would affect the HYPERBOREA 3E project. The articles I’d read indicated that the biggest issues in publishing were coming from China. At the time, that was a relief for me, because our project (primarily consisting of two hardbacks and two saddle-stitch books) was being printed in America. Since I had not heard anything from my print partners in the USA regarding delays, I kept my fingers crossed, hoping that these multi-industry disruptions would not affect the print and fulfillment of our project. Yesterday I received a message from my print partners, and I’m afraid that we too are now going to experience a delay in the print and fulfillment of our books.

Generous backers, I realize that we attracted a lot of new blood with this project, but for more than half of you who’ve been supporting North Wind Adventures for the last decade, you know that I’ve always taken pride in timely project fulfillment. Projects are written, most of the art and maps are completed, and editing and layout are well underway before we launch a crowdfunding campaign. While I realize that we have slipped into slight delays in the past, we usually begin shipping during the month that we’d initially projected. With HYPERBOREA 3E, if I am to be perfectly candid, I was looking at shipping indeed beginning in mid- to late December as projected, but I’d begun to forecast that the bulk of the shipping was going to slip into January. Now, due to supply chain disruptions in the USA print industry, we are looking at an April to May delivery of physical rewards. If the timetable changes between now and then, I will alert you straight away.

The PDFs for this project remain on time, by early December or before, so you will have the opportunity to explore HYPERBOREA 3E in electronic form soon. I know for many people it’s not the same as having a physical book in your hands, and I sympathize with that opinion, but it is my sincere hope that you will be sensitive to the predicament that we and countless other small and large publishers find ourselves in. My print partners provided a few informative articles to share regarding the issue, if you are interested:

These are challenging times, fellow RPG enthusiasts, but I remain confident that we will produce a superior product worthy of inclusion in your gaming collection. I appreciate your patronage, and I support your concerns. Thank you, and be well.

Kind regards,

HYPE 3E Layout Progress
over 2 years ago – Thu, Sep 30, 2021 at 01:37:12 PM

Greetings,

Layout for HYPERBOREA 3E is going well. Right now, the Player's Manual is done, and the Referee's Manual is halfway done. My small team of proofreaders/advisors are looking at the layout files for the Player's Manual now, looking to catch any mistakes/typos that may have snuck in between editing and layout. The plan is to forward the Referee's Manual to them next, as layout begins on The Late Trapper's Lament. For now, here is a sample of what a chapter break spread looks like, including a special border by Del Teigeler. Del has created frames for each chapter break in the books.  I hope you like it!

Meantime, I wanted to mention that our Backerkit remains open for preorders:

Hyperborea 3E Progress Report (9/9/21)
over 2 years ago – Sat, Sep 11, 2021 at 09:24:44 AM

Greetings,

It's been very busy here at North Wind Adventures ever since the HYPERBOREA 3E campaign ended. More interior art has rolled in, the game has been fully edited, and layout is progressing nicely.  Here is a recent piece by Mick Fernette, which will be printed on the endleaves of the Referee's Manual. The mi-go got more than they bargained for when they captured this necromancer. Her skeleton servants are attempting to free her. Will she escape this weird laboratory?

In other news, 92% of you have filled out your Backerkit, entering your address information, paying for shipping, and making add-on purchases. To the other 8%, I must let you know that some of the add-ons will soon be closed off -- specifically, signed and numbered leatherette books (we are ordering a finite number of these and need to finalize the numbers) and the new HYPERBOREA T-shirts (we need to place our order on these soonish).

Kind regards,

Jeffrey Talanian
